On the 13th of July 2021, Mr. Zsolt Németh, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian National Assembly, and Mr. Gordan Grlic Radman, minister of Foreign and European affairs of the Republic of Croatia participated at the reception held by the Hungarian Embassy in Zagreb to celebrate the beginning of the Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4).

In his opening speech Ambassador Dr. Csaba Demcsák, said: „Hungary truly believes that the pandemic is shortly behind us, and we can focus on revitalizing Europe. Our presidency motto “Recharging Europe” speaks for itself. We want to contribute to a successful recovery of Central-Europe and the European Union.” „The Hungarian V4 presidency has quite an ambitious program. I am convinced our priorities also overlaps with the interests of Croatia. We count on Croatia as an active partner and supporter of our presidency.”

The regional charge of the event and the symbolism of bilateral relations had been raised by the Croatian Foreign Minister's speech in Hungarian. Gordan Grlic Radman emphasized that our V4 presidency priorities were fully in line with Croatia's interests. He sees our V4 program for recharging Europe as a continuation of the work of the Croatian EU Presidency, which he fully supports. Zsolt Németh emphasized that in such a pragmatic cooperation like the V4, the Hungarian Presidency is also working for the success of Europe, in which we count on Croatia in a geographical sense as an ally.
