On the 2nd of March 2017, Hungarian Minister of Defence Dr. István Simicskó met his Croatian counterpart Damir Krsticevic.

During their meeting in the Croatian Capital the parties discussed issues related to the increasing terrorist threat in Europe, the migration crisis and possible ways for joint cooperation in the field of defense policy and improving military capabilities.

Since Hungary and Croatia are both committed to the modernization of its armed forces coordination between the two countries with a view to identifying a large number of joint projects of mutual interest becomes all the more important.  

Dr. István Simicskó explained that besides the setting up of a joint working group on cooperation, a meeting between the Chiefs of Defence of the two countries is also foreseen in the near future.

Hungarian Minister of Defense also expressed the hope that Croatia would soon establish its Defence Attaché Office in Budapest.
