On 23 November 2021, Dr. Csaba Demcsák delivered a welcome speech at the Ciotta Conference, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, held in the Council Chamber of the Rijeka City Hall.
Giovani de Ciotta was the mayor of the city between 1872 and 1896, the father of the city's modernisation and the founder of the excellent cooperation with Budapest. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the Hungarian contribution to the economic and social rise of Rijeka at the end of the 19th century.
