On October 15, 2020 our Embassy organized a Special Diplomatic Guided Tour introducing to the Zagreb diplomatic corps the Ars et virtus exhibition presenting 800 years of Hungarian-Croatian common history and art at the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery.
After several years of preparation, with the support of the Croatian and Hungarian governments and as a result of joint work by experts from the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery in Zagreb and the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest, the project is the cultural event of the year in Zagreb, which presents professionally the major events and the crossroads of the history of the two nations.
The exhibition in Zagreb, which is open until November 22, 2020, features a total of 308 works of art, of which 106 are from Hungarian collections. Some of the exhibited art treasures are invaluable works and monuments, such as the relics of St. Stephen and St. Ladislaus, the silver coffin of St. Simon from Zadar, the battle helmet and saber of Miklós Zrínyi, and several paintings by Mihály Munkácsy and Vlaho Bukovac.
Using the possibilities of the modern age, those interested can get a taste of the works of art virtually at the following web address: https://mnm.hu/virtualis/arsetvirtus/.
