During her visit, paid to Budapest, the Croatian President had bilateral meetings with her Hungarian counterpart, President of the Republic of Hungary, János Áder and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The visit was also marked by the awarding of an honorary doctorate degree to the Croatian President by the Corvinus University of Budapest. During their bilateral talks, Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán stressed the importance of cooperation among Central and Eastern-European countries, highlighting the need for these countries to be brought together during debates on the future of Europe.

As regards open questions between Hungary and Croatia, both parties reiterated their previous positions. In this respect, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic noted a progress recently and both sides agreed on the need to continue with the dialogue. The Croatian President said that by her visit she was reaffirmed about Hungarian intentions and readiness to further develop friendly relations with Croatia on political, investment and economic matters as well.
